So I’m a little weirded out now. The Red Deer company says he can do our kitchen in bamboo for $36,000 without GST, shipping, installation, or knobs and pulls. Then the guy from the company in BC tried to convince me that particle board was a good choice for the cabinetry casing. He says that we don’t need to worry about formaldehyde because it is naturally-occurring in the human body!

Chris now has me convinced that we should go back to the place we’re getting our appliances from to look into their cabinetry partner. But it seemed high end and somewhat exotic, so I’m not optimistic. If they’ll use bamboo or fsc certified plywood, then I’m in. I’m starting to wonder if I’ll have to dilute my standards for this project and hire that company in BC. At least the finishes would be non-toxic.
