New television series helps Canadians live greener
My Green House is the “environmentally friendly home refitting and lifestyles series” and it’s going to help Canadians understand the many choices they will face in and around their homes that can have an impact on the environment. From energy efficient furnaces to solar water heaters, from mowing the lawn to changing a light bulb, there are hundreds of decisions we face in our day to day lives that are either “green” or not.
And that’s where the Green Team comes in. My Green House’s five co-hosts visit a different home on each episode and help the homeowners become more aware of the different choices they can make and how those choices have an impact on the environment. MGH also features people profiles and how-tos on the latest techniques to “green” your house.
Green Team members have a passion for the environment and how we live.
Each of the five co-hosts on My Green House has a unique point of view on the environment and healthy living. Kailin See has traveled the world pursuing her film career and is a student in Environmental Sciences. Shannon Strumecki is an environmental educator, especially interested in wetlands preservation. She’s worked with both the Calgary Zoological Society and the Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society. Travis Milne pursues a number of outdoor activities and pastimes, all of which have made him environmentally aware. He’s a runner, hiker, skier and snowboarder. Jesse Lipscombe is a professional high jumper, competing around the world. He also owns a personal training business. Andrew Misile is a singer, songwriter, and musician. He is also a martial arts practitioner and yoga devotee.
The series will air across Canada on CHUM, ACCESS and CLT. The City of Edmonton’s CO2RE program, The Government of Alberta, Alberta Film Development Program and Reid Built Homes are among the sponsoring partners of My Green House.
My Green House was created by Ron E. Scott of Prairie Dog Film and Television. This is his and Executive Producer Doug Main’s second “green” production. Code Green Canada was a national competition among homeowners for the greatest energy conservation. It aired on CBC in ’06. PDFT co-produced the series and produced the Alberta and Saskatchewan segments.
