~Vivian, On Going Paper Towel-free

In the past I’ve learned that its all about having a clear and easy to use system.  We don’t like paper towels, but with two kids, there are inevitable messes throughout the day that require a quick one time wipe.  Our system works great for us because it’s in the right place, and gets used all the time.

On the counter where the paper towel would be is a decorative pot that I’ve always loved but never planted anything in.  In it are about 35 small flannel baby face cloths.  We then have a pretty basket on the side by our dishwasher.  After a “towel” gets used, in it goes.

When we finish our laundry we NEVER fold the little cloths.  In they go for the next time we need an easy grab.  I have to wash a load of laundry for towels and rags anyways, so it hasn’t created any more work to sustain.  This is our surprisingly clean kitchen.  Not at all staged- just a result of giving up our dishwasher, which is a story for another day! ~Vivian in Edmonton
