First of its kind, PineMark.com, rewards you for living “greener”

San Diego, CA - November, 23rd 2009 – PineMark (www.PineMark.com), the first green lifestyle certification program, announced that it offers exclusive discounts from more than 30 eco-conscious companies. PineMark provides incentives to individuals for reducing their impact on the environment while rewarding those who have committed to living a sustainable life.

Founded in 2009 by three entrepreneurs concerned with the environment, PineMark’s top management team consists of CEO Lauren de los Santos, Marketing Director Joe Magee, and CTO Karmel Allison.

When speaking about the formation of PineMark, de los Santos says, “PineMark was founded to help individuals quantitatively understand the effect their decisions have on the environment and to provide discounts and incentives to encourage sustainable behavior. The PineMark Certification is a badge that demonstrates an individual’s commitment to live a greener lifestyle.”

Mehr Solar, one of PineMark’s solar partners, described their partnership: “We are happy to have a strong relationship with PineMark due to their dedication to a cleaner, greener environment one individual at a time.”

Unlike carbon calculators, the PineMark scoring application provides a simple, meaningful, and comprehensive way for an individual to understand his or her ecological impact. A user enters information about their daily activities in four categories: energy, transportation, water and lifestyle. An individual’s impact is then scored, using a proprietary scoring system that accounts for all of a person’s daily habits. Anyone can register for free to access some benefits, but the PineMark Certification costs $39 per individual or $49 per household. The Certification includes a PineMark official grocery tote, a seal to display online along with a decal for a vehicle, and access to premium discounts.
