Green Roof Incentive Toronto In 2007 the $50 per square meter incentive for green roofs was renewed. Watch this link to find out if it extended again into 2008.
If you’re in Toronto and you’re looking for a new washer you can get a $60 or $75 rebate from the city of Toronto once you buy a high efficiency front-loader model.
The City offers Toronto residents a $60 or $75 cash incentive to replace a water-guzzling toilet with a City-selected water-efficient model. Residents must live in detached houses, semis, duplexes (buildings with up to six units), individual condos and townhouses.
Cambridge and North Dumfries Hydro EarthWise program Cambridge and North Dumfries Hydro customers can obtain the following rebates through the EarthWise program, a partnership between Cambridge and North Dumfries Hydro and the Residential Energy Efficiency Project (REEP): • a reduction in the price of an EnerGuide for Houses evaluation undertaken by REEP to $100; • a free report on the energy efficiency of a home’s major appliances, comparing them to the most efficient models; • up to $1,500 of incentives for installing ground source (geothermal) heating/cooling systems; • for homes with electric water heaters, up to $1,500 for installing a solar water heating system.
Watt-meter Lending Library - Detect the ‘phantom power’ energy loads in your home that are costing you money without even being in use by borrowing a watt-meter from Edmonton’s ecostore Earth’s General Store. Terasen Gas Receive a $250 credit on your Terasen Gas bill when you upgrade your natural gas furnace or boiler to a high-efficiency ENERGY STAR natural gas heating system before March 31, 2008. Plus, receive an extra $50 credit if the ENERGY STAR natural gas furnace you install has a variable speed motor. This offer applies only in the following regions: Lower Mainland - East Kootenays (Columbia) - Interior (Inland) - Fort Nelson. Save an additional $150 - $1,000 with one of 15 manufacturer rebate coupons or special offers. But, don’t delay. These offers expire January 31, 2008. Find out more
peaksaver allows you to help reduce the demands on Ontario’s electricity system, simply and effectively. A peaksaver switch will be installed on your central air conditioner. During critical times (typically on hot summer days), a signal can be sent to cycle your system down to reduce the amount of electricity it uses. You won’t notice a change in temperature, and you’ll be doing your part to conserve without any further time, effort or cost! First time participants receive a $50 Canadian Tire gift card and a $25 credit toward their electricity bill!
Quebec residents with fridges 10 years old or more can get a free pick-up of the appliance plus a $60 rebate! See web site for eligibility. Expires December 2010.
Check with your local utility provider about rebates, special promotions, or green power programs you may qualify for.
If you do not see a program in your area, be sure to let your municipal and provincial representatives know that to be leaders in this area, they have some catching up to do!
TD Meloche Monnex Green Wheel - a 10% discount (5% in Ontario) on insurance premiums for hybrid cars. Not available in BC, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba.

Citizens Bank of Canada ‘Green Mortgage’ Sign up for this mortgage with Citizens bank and receive a $10,000 line of credit at prime, and a green gift pack which includes a free home energy audit, a recycling blue box, compact fluorescent light bulbs, and a set of coupons for local green businesses. For each ‘Green Mortgage’ funded, Citizens Bank donates $100 to the Conservation Council of Ontario. This product is available in Ontario only, but may reach the rest of Canada by the end of 2008.
Homeworks Homeworks Services Inc. (Homeworks) offers a complete range of home energy efficiency and comfort services from objective house evaluations for home upgrades in BC and Alberta, and financing for a range of home improvements in most Canadian provinces.
TD Canada Trust ‘Green Mortgage’ When you sign up for a green mortgage with TD Canada Trust, you receive a 1% discount off the posted interest rate on a five-year fixed rate mortgage or on a five-year fixed rate portion of a Home Equity Line of Credit (HELOC), and a cash rebate of 1% of the amount of the mortgage or the fixed rate portion of the HELOC when you make ENERGY STAR qualified purchases. When the rebate is granted, TD Canada Trust donates $100 to the TD Friends of the Environment Foundation.
TD Canada Trust Green Home Equity Line of Credit (HELOC) This Green Home Equity Line of Credit gives you a 1% discount off the posted interest rate. Additionally, when you make ENERGY STAR® qualified purchases for your home , you’re eligible for a cash rebate of up to 1% of the fixed rate portion of your Home Equity Line of Credit.
Vancity Credit Union Bright Ideas Loan Get a loan at prime rate between $3500 and $20,000 when you make renovations recommended by an ecoENERGY Retrofit - Homes evaluation of your home. These renovations must achieve at least a five-point improvement in your home’s energy efficiency rating. The ecoENERGY Retrofit - Homes grant and other incentives you can earn for this are yours to keep. Use them to pay down your loan, saving even more in the long term. Loans can be paid back over 10 years, and are available to BC residents with Vancity memberships.
Yukon Housing Corporation Green Mortgage The Yukon Housing Corporation offers mortgage financing of up to $280,000 at a reduced interest rate for homes built or upgraded to the corporation’s GreenHome standard (R-2000), which includes strict energy efficiency requirements. GreenHomes must be constructed by Yukoners, and Yukon businesses must supply at least 75% of the building materials.
CIBC Enviro-saver Mortgage With this mortgage, you receive a gift certificate for up to $300 for an ecoENERGY “D” Evaluation, Get a free copy of the Carbon Buster’s Home Energy Handbook, PLUS customers that purchase CMHC Mortgage Insurance may be eligible for a 10% rebate on their premiums and no surcharge on 40-year amortization when the energy-efficient upgrades are completed.
